Maria Alieva

I am originary from Russia, but grew up in Spain, where I obtained my PhD in the University of Barcelona focusing on cell therapy for brain tumors. Then I moved to the Netherlands where I did a first postdoc in the van Rheenen group at the Hubrecht Institute, spying on tumor cells through an imaging window to understand how invasive clinical procedures can impact tumor cell behavior. In 2017, I joined the Rios group where I started focusing on the development of data mining pipelines to address behavioral heterogeneity of tumor and immune cells. Outside of the lab my main hobby is performing in theater.
